Description of Technical Assistance/Training Services or Materials —
The Safe and Drug Free Schools and communities (SDFSC) technical assistance (TA) project aims at reducing alcohol, tobacco and other drug use, and violence problems among California's youth through education and prevention. Cost-free technical assistance and training are available to the forth-three SDFSC grantees. The purpose of the TA is to facilitate compliance with federal and state guidelines, such as the Principles of Effectiveness, with the final goal of providing more effective ATOD and violence prevention services. Grantees benefit from services through knowledge and skill development, and programmatic application. Training topics include: logic models, model programs, science-based curricula, environmental prevention, strategic planning, organizational program evaluation, development of culturally competent prevention programs, as well as customized TA and training based on specific needs.
