Prevention
Our goal in Prevention Services is to develop and maintain a comprehensive, statewide prevention system that averts and reduces alcohol and other drug-related problems, thereby improving the health, safety and economic conditions of California residents by:
- Modifying social norms and conditions to counter adverse consequences resulting from ATOD availability, manufacturing, distribution, promotion, sale, and use.
- Effectively addressing at-risk and underserved populations and their environments.
To the left you will see navigation links that will enable you to access the resources and information necessary to accomplish the following tasks, among others:
- Learn about the many prevention programs happening throughout the state.
- Order free publications, CDs/DVDs, and other materials in the Resource Center .
- Access PADS data reports and learn about the new CalOMS Preventuion data system.
- Learn about the work of the Governor's Prevention Advisory Council.
- Review the various publications and fact sheets relating to ongoing prevention efforts.
