National Center on Substance Abuse and Child Welfare (NCSACW)
One outgrowth of the Blending Perspectives report was the creation of the National Center on Substance Abuse and Child Welfare (NCSACW), established through a memorandum of understanding between SAMHSA and ACF. NCSACW's goals are to develop and implement a comprehensive program of information gathering and dissemination, to provide technical assistance, and to develop knowledge that promotes effective practice, and organizational and system changes at the local, state, and national levels. Substance abuse treatment providers and child welfare workers are also able to participate in free online courses on a range of practice issues, including training about how professionals from both fields can effectively collaborate to improve services to families. These courses are available online at NCSACW's website.
